Samansco collaborated with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on an initiative aimed at providing large scale relief and aid to areas of Zimbabwe. The goals of this project were to operate a safe, secure and reliable supply chain to procure and distribute pharmaceuticals and other basic commodities throughout the country. This was a project centred on the need to provide care and accessible treatment to people with HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections.
Samansco’s role on the project was to supply and perform 30 solar panel installations on sites located all over the country. The sites were hospitals located in the Zimbabwean provinces of Manicaland, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland West, Midlands, Matabeleland South and Matabeleland North. The installations provided by Samansco worked as back-up power systems for the hospital labs, which required solar energy to power equipment, lighting and refrigeration.
Load shedding and power outages were a frequent occurrence throughout the country during this time; Samansco is pleased to have been part of a large-scale collaboration which created sustainable developmental solutions
